I am hoping to get a few grade estimates by the forum please. I had a hard time getting the camera to pick up the fact that this coin still has the red coloring to it but hopefully that won't interfere with the grading. thanks all! Edited by malissadawn 05/24/2009 01:50 am

This is a toughie for me...I don't have any that grade this high, and I cannot tell if there's any circulation wear.

It's a toughy for me too. I tend to rarely attempt a guess over the AU grades but I feel that this one is much better than that. When I look at it in hand I see no wear anywhere. I am going to take some more photos of the high points (if I can find the reference to what those are) and then maybe we can retry with those images included?

well, here are the best closeups I could get. (though I am sure a grading company doesn't place coins under an actual microscope?) Or do they? Anyway, the color temp changes back and forth when I try to get this close but I at least found the high points I believe. thanks for looking THIS WAS INTERESTING TOO!

Looks like AU-55 to me... beautiful coin malissa. Just a fast fact.... Did you know that there where 7 attempts on Queen Victoria's life while she reined.

This is one of the best I've seen of this type. I'm going to say MS-63.

Malissa, a great cent. 1st guess would be MS62, perhaps 63/4. If it is RB, I would take a chance and send it to ICCS. I am sure you have your own feelins about it. and YES the do use a scope for grading.... most the time. to compare, here is a cent I have. It graded MS63 RB ICCS there seem to be a somewhat different grading criteria compared with silver. hope it helps HHB

thank you for the grades everyone. I may take it over to ICCS and drop it off to see what they think of it.

close ups and having many myself , I would grade this at MS 62-Ah the classic Victorian large cent... One of my favorites... Judging by the execellent quality of the 63 RB

well, I have repeatedly tried to get someone from ICCS on the phone so that I can drop this coin off. I just dont want to send it in the mail. So far have gotten no answer. Will keep trying and if not maybe I will ship off to someone else.

I cannot tell if the marks I see are due to "bag marks" or wear from circulation. I'm leaning towards very slight circ wear--AU55. Quote: well, I have repeatedly tried to get someone from ICCS on the phone so that I can drop this coin off. I've heard it's near impossible to do...they don't even have a Web site/email. Good luck!

Im going to see if the new camera can take some clearer shots that show the color properly. I think the little marks in her hair area are bag marks not wear marks. I think so anyway. I have left another message with ICCS and hopefully that will get someone back to me.
