1909 VDB Wheat Cent Error Or Damage?

MyKidsCoins Valued Member United States 53 Posts	Posted 05/25/2009 10:01 am I bought a small jar of wheat cents at a yard sale. I paid $20.00 for approx. 800 wheat cents, about 600 are pre-1940. I just separated the coins by date and found 4 1909VDB. The coin pictured has a reverse crack, is it an error or damage? These are the first 4 1909VDB I have seen. If you could spare a grade it would also be appreciated. Does this crack hurt the value? Thanks Mark Report this Post to the Staff

From what I can see in the pictures, I am nearly 100% certain that it is a Lamination peel/crack due to a flawed planchet. Also, I doubt that it would really hurt the value or help the value of the coin. Frank Report this Post to the Staff
