sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21635 Posts	Posted 04/25/2025 7:47 pm Acetone will remove organic fatty acids, such as meat fats but only if they are removed immediately after to exposure to the coin. Fingerprints are in this category. If not removed immediately, they will react with the metal, to form complex organic salts, which become an irremovable part of the coin's surface. Acetone is unable to remove this sort of staining. Acetone will not remove inorganic substances, such as oxides sulfides, etc., which can be part of acquired toning, ugly or beautiful. I'd leave them alone - right now they look like they have natural surfaces. Without knowing what you are doing with things to alter surfaces they may not become market acceptable.
