First of all, thank you all for your feedback. On this post and others it has been most helpful. As you can see from the pictures, I wasn't kidding when I said I was about to open the roll but didn't. Obviously, I will have to go ahead eventually and finish what I started.

How did you acquire the role?

The roll was my grandfather's who had a stamp and coin shop in NY in the 1960s. Recently my mother pulled what remained from his collection out of storage and asked me to help sort it all out. There are many other rolls like this one (among other things) so though this particular one would not be sellable, others will be. That said, I am inclined to enjoy the hunt and open the rest in good time, no doubt, with my grandfather smiling down on me as I do.

The 1969-S DDO perhaps..

It's a roll of 1960-P cents - what would a 1969 cent be doing in there? Dearborn, you OK man?

Might as well open it - it's pretty much opening it self!

I agree your grandfather is smiling. It looks like you will have a lot of fun as you go through your grandfathers coin store inventory.

I was with MrT and others that wondered whether they were Small or Large date coins. Your pic of the roll explains why you couldn't know.
Because of my experiences, your last images of the roll with the ends taped up makes me think this roll had been examined and then taped up to keep the ends from falling open.

Have fun and let us know how your journey unfolds.
