A little while ago I posted a coin with lines like those on this one, and so I am posting again to confirm that I have here another planchet error made by rollers during the planchet-preparation process. Is that correct?

You're correct. It's Roller Lines.

Amazing they haven't been worn off by circulation yet.

Aye, roller lines--they can be quite persistent.

Thanks again to all for the feedback. And education! Until now, I had only thought about errors like this emerging as surfaces are worn away over time. But what goes up must come down, I guess, and I see - and probably should have seen all along - how those same errors can wear away because of the same wear and tear. So darn interesting!

I do not believe they will, at least not easily, given their nature of being scored into the rolled material before the blanks were punched. The lines are in the metal. Not too different than wood-grain cents, which is why people confuse them.

Would take a lot of wear to remove them.
