The worst part is, he states this: Quote: If you prefer that the coin is not toned I can easily remove the patina

Being pretty new to the coin hobby I often wondered if some of the coins on ebay were artificially toned. Thanks for clearing up my question. On the same topic, Is there anyway to tell the difference between a naturally toned coin and compared to a coin with artificially patina ? I've seen some pretty nice rainbow toned coins that I thought about picking up,only to see the ebay user has 25 coins, of all different denominations, all with the same beautiful rainbow tone which made me feel they were artificially toned. Thanks, Tom Urban

This is one of the most bizarre ads I have seen in a long time. He is selling a toned Walking Liberty half, but if you don't like the toning, he will clean it for you? If I didn't like a toned coin, I would just look for one that isn't toned.

"The coin speaks for otself" (sic), and it says, "I am one ugly copper-colored coin. Please clean me up and give me a good home." I guess when coins get worn down to VG or thereabouts you can now take a nickel's worth of toner, dab it onto the coin, and then charge EF+ prices for it, huh? Aren't you glad this is America, home of ebay, where the most bizarre sellers lurk? More fun than the "Biggest Loser".

It looks like it spent some time in a kiln. Are those stress fractures scattered throughout the fields on the obverse? Or perhaps it's just been HARSHLY cleaned.

Coin toner for silver
"This toner is AWESOME, and produces a beautiful rainbow patina. A small piece of this very in hot water makes quite lot of toner but the shelf life is very short after once its been mixed with water. I am selling 1/4 oz for $10 You can make quite a lot of small batches with just this amount."
Instructions will be included! free shipping! Now I have seen it all!!!
