urbnlgnd Valued Member United States 55 Posts	Posted 05/27/2009 08:59 am Being pretty new to the coin hobby I often wondered if some of the coins on ebay were artificially toned. Thanks for clearing up my question. On the same topic, Is there anyway to tell the difference between a naturally toned coin and compared to a coin with artificially patina ? I've seen some pretty nice rainbow toned coins that I thought about picking up,only to see the ebay user has 25 coins, of all different denominations, all with the same beautiful rainbow tone which made me feel they were artificially toned. He is selling a toned Walking Liberty half, but if you don't like the toning, he will clean it for you? If I didn't like a toned coin, I would just look for one that isn't toned.
