This is a nickel that was in a roll that I bought from a Bank. Good fine. But it also has a mint error. In the upper proportion of the E in the word, we see what appears to be a die chip. Is that what it looks like to you?

Just seeing stains and discoloration. Not seeing a Die Chip. A Die Chip would be raised.

Can't tell what it is from those small photos.

Still, nice to find silver at face value.

Please get in the habit of stating the denomination in your message title. I'm going to ask a moderator to edit this for you.

Even if it is a small die chip, it would not be considered an error.

Consider giving the piece a long soak in 100% acetone--might reduce or eliminate much of the crud appearing on the coin's surfaces.

To me, it looks like something scraped the discoloration off that area.

I agree with everyone else, silver is silver, and free silver is the best kind! =)
