Nice find, like the toning.

With the Diamond Crown, it has to be between 1990-2003.
You could probably narrow that down with the weight.

JimmyD I think it's the tiara crown on this strike not the diamond crown.
The toning is just from poor lighting with my camera.

Looking closer, your right, it is the tiara crown.
That widens the gap to 1965 to 1989.
You can still narrow it down with the weight.

That is cool. How does it happen? I would think the planchet is outside the dies when struck, so would that not bend the outside material in some way?

Loonielewy if you look closely at the first picture you will see that the unstruck portion of the planchette is indeed deformed , bent.

Collar was jammed or broken and some planchets still fed onto the collar space and created this cool coin, penny presses are around 200 to 300 units a minute. the pressman just can't instantly stop the press
