Hello!!
Need help on this one, please!
The obverse, I might attribute to staining, PMD, etc (thoughts?)
But the reverse...don't have a guess! Hopefully pics show well enough to get the idea of what it looks like. Sort of a topography map of mountain ranges. The appearance similar to using a straw to blow on drying paint to give it structure.

Thanks!!

Both sides are showing PMD. I'm thinking environmental damage.

Any ideas on what would cause the damage on the reverse?

I'm thinking that acid could have been applied to it, or being buried in the ground caused it. I know that the acidity from the soil can eat away at the metal on the coin. Is it lighter in weight?

A stiff/coarse wire wheel could move the metal like that, maybe someone was trying to "clean" the coin but gave up after seeing the damage it caused.

Can't tell. I don't have a coin scale.
My kitchen scale fluctuated between 5 & 6 grams the first time, then 4 & 5 grams.
Guess if I'll need to get one if I get more involved with coins!

I got my little gram scale on Amazon for $8. Two decimal point accuracy for grams, and it can handle up to maybe 5oz, which is enough for sending ebay envelopes.

Marve may have called out what caused that reverse damage - a wire wheel on a drill. Or it could have been a parking lot coin too. we may never know.
