Please help me by explaining what I have. Very prominent date doubling. Is this repunched date, double dye, or what? Is it common? I know coin isn't in greatest condition but what affect on value does this doubling have? Thanks.

I only see what could be Machine Doubling on the second 2 in the date. That is a common result of the production process, no added value from my experience.
Suffering from bust half fever.

Indeed - that is textbook MD. Flat & shelf-like with the number being smaller where the doubling is.
