The mint mark appears to be filled in. Would that be because of a die chip? Thanks all.

Yes, a die chip--also known as a broken post when the chip is integral with the mint mark.

Technically a die chip but more commonly known as a broken post.
Fairly common on P and D mint marks.

Conflicting opinions here. Too confused in this world already, people. But I'll be darned if I'm going to stop. It was caused by a broken post and left a chip...not as in potato.THAT I'm sure of.
