In 1897, there was an exhibition called the Saxon-Thuringian Industrial Exhibition that was held in Leipzig. This tiny specimen (about .5 grams of mass and 13 mm diameter) seems to have been made for that but I cannot be sure. Help! Edited by jdsstrat 05/31/2025 07:56 am

The German on the front says "Community Hall Thürdorf"
The back says "Saxon Thuringian Industry and Trade Exhibition Leipzig 1897"
I'm finding zero reference to the existence of this (coin/medal/token) in my googling.
I found one with similar wording, with a design of what appears to be an industrial building on it, but the picture has no frame of reference for size.

Thanks, CreativeName! Yes, I think Thur. Dorf is a reference to the Thuringian Village exhibit that was part of the Trade Exhibition in Leipzig you reference. As I understand it, specific buildings of note from the countryside were reproduced in the city for the show. I have found souvenir postcards from the same show, with an illustration of what appears to be the same Gemeindehaus (Community Hall) - item # 356897941856 on ebay.co.uk, for example. But, like you, no tokens. Perhaps this is the "coin" required for entry into this specific exhibit... Thoughts?

I have found other coins/tokens that appear to be from the same event. Like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/364781821304I don't know the actual value of these. And I can't tell the size of this from the picture. The postcards I found that seem to be from this event are amazingly decorative and detailed.

Ha! We are on the same hunt! I saw that ebay item too. I was tempted to message the seller for its size but decided against it for the moment. Yes, they definitely DON'T make postcards like those anymore. P.S. I guess what I should have written is that I can find no other examples of my token online, either. Thanks!

FYI: I did reach out to the seller of the similar ebay item linked to above by CreativeName. It is nothing like this one, as it has 10 grams of mass and a diameter of 1 and 1/8 inches.

Haven't gotten any movement on this one for a while so I thought I'd post this in the hope... I know I called it "tiny' and gave the measurements in the original post but words do not do the size (or lack thereof) of this token justice.

Made, perhaps, for a child, as a keepsake? I am really reaching here, I know.
