Cleaning Up A Copper Medal, Advice?

Brandmeister Pillar of the Community United States 6464 Posts	Posted 06/09/2025 3:23 pm I assume that this is PVC or verdigris on my copper medal. I will start with a soak in hot distilled water, and then attempt cleanup with acetone. If that doesn't work, maybe this is a Verdicare scenario? The medal has some tarnish on it, and I don't think that cleaning would necessarily hurt the value. Report this Post to the Staff

Brandmeister Pillar of the Community United States 6464 Posts	Posted 06/09/2025 5:00 pm Predictably, a soak in hot water and a soak in acetone did zero to the aqua colored substance. If anything, the acetone removed a faint layer of dirt and exposed even more blue-green stuff. The acetone did remove some faintly sticky residue areas, though. Report this Post to the Staff
