I thought I would ask for your opinion on the grade of this 57 proof nickel. Looks like a slight rub on Mr. Jefferson and maybe other areas. Thank you..

Is that a hair by IN or a scratch? The lighting needs to be better, we need to be able to see the whole surface for this to work.

That's a piece of lint. I'll see what I can do for better photos.. Didn't want to get them too light. Thanks

Grading proofs by pictures is so hard to do - and your pics are especially dark - Yours is just the average run of the mill 50's proof coin. You couldn't tell if it's a 64 or a 67 - and the price really doesn't matter because back in the later 50's and early 60's, the only way to have a desirable price increase is if the coins were CAMEO - or the especially desired DEEP CAMEO, which were only the first coins minted from fresh dies due to the "Pickling" process the proof dies went through before being installed into the minting presses and having the "First strikes" coming off of them.

Thanks everybody for your opinions.. Marve65...you are correct.. All I was trying to do with this posting is show that you can't believe everything you read, see or told. As you can see from the above photo the now defunct basement graders took advantage of a lot of people. Have a good evening.
