You'll notice there's nothing in Jeff's link about re-tarnishing a gold coin - that's because gold coins aren't tarnished to begin with. "Old gold" doesn't tarnish, and looks just the same as "brand new gold". The whole point of people loving gold is that it never "looks old".
If it's "real gold" plating, there's not much you can do to it... no chemical will touch it. If you want to make it look "old" anyway, you'll have to replate it with something like gilding metal, that "looks golden" but is more reactive than gold. Then oxidize it with smoke or sulfur or something.
