What diabolical torture befell this poor cent. It has a razor sharp edge. The obverse is a bit concave & the coin weighs 2.4 grams, about right for a zinc cent. Weird looking coin.

Maybe some prisoner was making a weapon and had to hide it occasionally 'ouch'. Don't put it in your mouth.

I like yotie's ninja throwing cent idea.

Don't think that's a dryer cent. The ninja would be more likely.

I wonder how that was done to the edge...

Makes you wonder if somebody did it hoping to cause another person injury, being it is razor sharp. I too think it was possibly done with some sort of knife sharpener.

Numismo, does it have a larger diameter than a normal cent?

steve 199 the diameter is the same as a normal cent. The obverse has a rim but the reverse does not. Being that the obverse is concave it looks like the reverse edge was pushed over the top and sharpened that way. Can't be a dryer cent because that would have a rounded smooth edge. Someone sure has a lot of time on their hands.

It looks like what a "zincoln" looks like after it was in an encasement and removed. The thinner edge looks right and the damage is rot that occurred after the plating was destroyed by the process of placing the coin in the encasement.

Thanks,
Bill
