Sold a quarter-ounce gold eagle and purchased 17 Morgan dollars. These ended up being about $49.96 per coin. They were in a box marked BU but it is likely that it had some sliders and all were common date. Tried to pick out the best ones in the box. Will post one a day so as to not bury other threads looking for grading. As always, I welcome your thoughts. Thanks!

UNC Details. I really like this one, looks like another interesting clasher. If not for the scratch around 6:30 of the Reverse I'd have it at MS64 minimum.

Except for the aforementioned scratch, the reverse could reach MS65. Hard to tell what's going on with the obverse: milk spots, discoloration, and loss of luster.

What's going on with the obverse rim just past 9 o'clock? Ding? Missing a small chunk?

I'm guessing you mean 3 o'clock. Not sure but the image enlarges clearly for a better look.

Yes, just past 3 o'clock. My apologies. It was just past 9 o'clock when I typed the question.

i dont think one small edge hit would detail this one. the eye appeal of the obv will keep her out of MS64 box imo. I think this occurred from improper storage. you could try to acetone it but I doubt it would make a difference. very difficult to determine amount of luster on the obv.

i think i'd have to net it MS63 due the obv and the one ding. one must keep in mind that a grade really needs to reflect what the value of the coin would be and imo its not at a full retail value for an MS64 coin.

Nobody other Unimpossible and halfamind than is worried about the scratch between E / D on the reverse? Afraid it is details for me. I don't often dip coins, but this would be one I would because the obverse was not properly washed from a previous dip.

I see it but don't think it's significant enough to detail it. As it sits with the subdued obverse luster I guess MS63.

I'm a bit surprised as well @psuman08. That looks like a staple scratch to me, and not a light one. I'd be very surprised if PCGS, for example, straight-graded this one - particularly with their grade guarantee.

I'm with BH1964 on the scratch. its minor and not in a key area of the coin. there is always a chance a TPG would detail it, however, I think there's a better chance it would slab straight
