Any ideas on how this would have been used? I would always claim the higher amount

Curious token, dar76124. I don't recall ever seeing one with a dual denomination before. I looked in tokencatalog.com and I see a number of different W.T. Vogeli tokens, all with dual denominations (5c / 2-1/2c, 10c / 5c, and 25c / 12-1/2c). According to the listings, Vogeli was the manager of a billiards hall. I'm wondering since the reverse specifies "12-1/2 in trade", and the obverse just says 25c, maybe the larger amount was for game play. Just a guess...

a 25¢ chip for betting that was also accepted in trade at a 50% discount. Judging by his other tokens, presumably the discount was consistent.
