Can anyone help identify the manufacturer of plastic horseshoe encasements? These are molded in two parts and then snapped together, encasing the inserted coin and advertisement text.

Those are nice because they don't damage the coin. But not as durable as aluminum.

Nice find!

That's an Encased Coin keychain. They were popular in the 1950s and 1960s, and came with a beaded chain that easily broke or was lost. You may want to check or contact the Encased Coins website. They may have more information on this.

Looks like this might be the same case although mine has yellowed considerably.

My father had a photography studio and I'm sure this is a sample from a salesman that had stopped in one day.

Pennywise

There are several varieties -- Translucent green with U.S.A. above the hole, translucent pale green without U.S.A. above the hole, and clear plastic without U.S.A. above the hole. Based on the photo, you have the translucent green with U.S.A. above the hole. It should fluoresce brightly under a black light.

I have seen several with Sample #88 or Sample #AM88 but am still trying to determine the manufacturer.
