I have an interesting coin that appears to be Byzantine. It is bronze, 17 mm in diameter and weighs 4.25 grams. It shows what appears to be a stylized eagle with vertical lettering on both sides of the eagle. Can anybody help me identify it? Thanks!

Pretty sure it isn't Byzantine, but perhaps Greek. Hopefully someone with better knowledge can weigh in with a positive ID.

not Byzantine, probably Ptolemaic or Seleucid.

Can't comment further, sorry.

Thanks to your hints, I've identified it as an ANTIOCHOS VIII (DECADENT) AE18 Seleukid Kingdom RADIATE HELIOS & EAGLE, almost a perfect match with https://www.ebay.com/itm/3572069784...agle&itmmeta.
What do you all think? BTW here is the obverse with his radiate head clearly shown. You can make out Helios' rays faintly at about 10 - 11 o'clock.

@dwas, yes that looks pretty close to me--very nice work! I wish that you coin had a little more remaining detail. By the way, since ebay link quickly get broken, here is a link to a similar coin on acsearch so that folks can learn in the future:
