Hello and thany you for checking out my first post. I'm new to the coin hunting hobby and have discovered this Nickle and do not know what or how to label this strange error. In the forehead area of Jefferson, we can see a D mint mark, and above that, the faint outline of a year. I can not find any other examples online to learn what I have found. The rest of the coin does not appear to have any other errors that I can tell. I would really appreciate the advice, help, and identification, and guesstimate on value/worth submitting to grading from more experienced collectors.

Glue that had another coin stuck to it?

To CCF! I think Marve is correct. Looks like glue.

I would concur; it's glue. Two coins were glued together, then prised apart again. What you see here is one of the coins, with some of the glue still stuck to it and an impression from the second coin pressed into the first coin. The blob of glue "looks metallic" because it's transparent, and the underlying metal is shining through the glue layer.

We've seen it numerous times on the forum before. Example: https://goccf.com/t/412823

Yup, give it an acetone bath and it comes off.

Interesting look. Let us know the result if you choose to give the nickel an acetone soak.

@DForgeworks - - from over your northern border. .
As mentioned above, a long soak in acetone might clear this up.
