I believe I have finally found a nickel that has partly cured me of my bemusement over Buffalo nickel DDOs. Every time I see these exaggerated thick tops to LIBERTY, my brain wants to see a doubled die. However, under magnification, I can clearly see how the poor metal flow near the rim is what caused these thickened letter tops. The curvy E is still a mystery to me, as that so often indicates a DDO on wheat cents. I believe this coin might have also been scraped or squeezed across the letter tops by a Coin Wrapping Machine, further exaggerating the lettering.

Even writing this post now, my brain is still saying that the foot of the L is thick! =P
