The pattern seems to match a known die pair, but I'm noticing some odd lettering in the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" on the reverse that gives me pause. What are your thoughts? Report this Post to the Staff

Slider23 Pillar of the Community United States 4468 Posts	Posted 07/30/2025 9:11 pm I am going to stop short of calling it a counterfeit, but it is a hard pass because of questionable authentication. On the 1873 S there is only one know die pair that has a date position close to the OP example The following issues are circled below that do not match the know JK-4 die pair: Obverse - The elongated denticles. Reverse - The shape of the E in America is not correct. Reverse - The I in America is missing a serif. Reverse - The S mint mark is to be tilted to right. The one on the OP appears to be straight.
