New here, can anyone tell me what to call this coin? Seems like a quarter planchet that wasn't struck all the way, but also struck with penny motto reverse. I can only see 19 for the date. Any and all opinions are welcome.

Looks like damage, a vise job / garage job. As for the date, looks like 198x, you can see the copper on the edge, so not a silver quarter.

to the CCF, Centrepeace.
When I was a kid, we put coins on railroad tracks for the train to flatten. Sometimes we stacked them to get squashed, and they came out looking just like this.

To CCF! It's a Vise Job. PMD. The coin is out of round and the letters from the impression is reversed. Worth 25 cents. https://www.error-ref.com/squeeze-j...-garage-job/

I'm willing to bet that this ex quarter was smashed in a hydraulic press and a cent was on top in it.

Yep, that's what happens when someone says "Hey, I wonder what happens if I put a penny, stacked on top of a quarter, onto train tracks?". The slightly oval shape is very typical of railroaded coins.

And technically, it's not even worth 25 cents any more. Since it can no longer pass a mechanical coin counter, it is classified as "mutilated" by the government, and thus is no longer legal tender. You might be able to find some artistic type who "thinks a smashed coin looks cool", but that's a question for art appreciators, not coin collectors.
