MtnCoinMan- I'm very sorry to hear that. I wish you guys the best. Now that present from Littleton is certainly worth more than was paid.

Very sorry to hear about that, MtnCoinMan That hits home because my mom constantly sends me little coin packets in the mail, and even though it is mostly things she finds in her pocket change and they are worth no more than face value, I have a little jar that I keep all of it in. My mom still tells me the story often of the "odd" new cent that she had in her hand back in 1955 that had the doubled detail, and that she thought nothing of it and spent it on an ice cream cone! And, she is all the family that I have left, so I treasure her very much. Treasure that gift she gave you, and at this point it really doesn't matter where she got it; it is the thought that counts!

Oh for goodness sakes! What is this big problem with cost?
If I didn't know coins and went to the local coin dealer, I would probably end up paying Littleton prices. Don't even mention what could happen to you if you wanted to be clever and buy them on E-bay!
My sister is into scrapbooking and I will invariably go down to the small, locally owned scrapbook place and buy whatever catches my eye for her birthday/christmas presents. The prices seem quite high - but I think that's part of that hobby!
Anyway, I would be pretty P.O'ed if she made some snide remarks about how I'm paying too much (without even knowing how much I paid) because it's a small local shop instead of one of the chain stores, etc.
Mind your own business and try to appreciate the gift.

Well, you wanted to know all about this company "Littleton"......but upon hearing this with your Mom.....I agree with the others....It doesn't matter !.....Who cares ? These coins will be a treasured gift from her to have the rest of your life ! Best of luck to you and yours. I hope the Chemo treatment gets it all and she's around for many many years yet !

Thank you all for the wonderful sentiment. Mom starts her chemo today. She beat breast cancer 4 years ago, but breast cancer can migrate to the lungs and that is what happened. Katie, I do agree with what you said but there is a lot more to the story than just Littleton. Last year, I took over ALL of my parents business which is quite a few real estate rentals. One property manager was collecting rent and NOT sending it to my mother. I had to step in and threaten embezzlement charges against the property management company. In the past three years, my mother has been taken for over $200,000.00 so I do have to step in guard her assets. I highly appreciate the gifts but I do need to protect my mother from the Sharks out there. So I cannot 'mind my own business' as much as I would really love to.

When I was little, I noticed my Mother wasn't getting any of the Pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving because she would serve everyone before herself and then people would want seconds and there would be none left.
That depressed me. But when I got older and wiser, I understood that was what my Mother wanted. Nothing made her happier.
Haven't you ever paid $2 for a glass of soda pop or way too much for a fancy drink with an umbrella in it?

I had a similar thing happen just last year. My oldest son took a class trip to Washington D.C. and one of the stops was at Mount Vernon. He picked up a silver certificate for me, even though I don't collect paper money (he just knows I get into money, close enough for him) I threw a fit over it and he was all smiles. I've got it sitting out on display on my dresser and he's proud he got dear old dad something he liked. I'll probably never get rid of that thing now. I agree with Kabiye Lady, at least she got decent stuff from a reputable company. It coulda been a lot worse if she had hit the bay. Maybe a S.G.S. slabbed set of State Quarters. heheheh Best of luck with her health issues.

I took mom out Geocaching today, before she started her Chemo. She was on top of the world, she just LOVES Geocaching. She has over 1,100 Geocache finds. The doctor said this type of chemo will make her very fatigued, so we may not be able to go out again for a long time.
Again, thank you for all your prayers, sentiment and kind words.

She has my prayers for what whe is and has gone through. Find a way to just get her to not use Littleton again. Don't say anything about that place being lousy to her at this time for sure. As for Chemotherapy, not just that type but almost all types really are lousy. Usually the doctors don't really tell you or her the complete story about the effects. Hopefully, her Chemotherapy is not really one of the bad ones. After my stage 4 Cancer, 4 operations, I too had Chemotherapy twice and it really screws a person up. Lost all my hair, gums started to bleed, had to drink all food and then it got better but I'm still here so someone up there makes it work. The main thing for her now is you being there for her. You have no idea of important someone being there helps.
