I am requesting some assistance in regards to a 2019 Nickel with PMD that I came across a few months ago. I am completely clueless as to pretty much anything involving coin collecting. Posted a video on TikTok asking for help with where to go to for help, information, etc. So this forum was recommended as well as she explained the " PMD" to me.

Has anyone else seen a 2019 Nickel like this? Or is this possibly a one time incident? My next questions are how would I find out about the value of this coin? Again I am completely clueless to coin collecting. All information, suggestions, etc are greatly appreciated. I am including pictures of the coin.

You have come to the right place!

What you have there is indeed Post Mint Damage called a vise job as someone put a dime on that 2019 nickel and hit them with a hammer and impressed the dime design into the nickel. You notice how the letters are all retrograde, is a clue it was a vise job and not done at the mint.

Since post-mint damage doesn't add to the value of a coin, your nickel is worth face value. It is fun to look at so keep it if you want, but there is no numismatic premium.

You're correct, it is PMD known as a vice coin.
Since there is no premium for PMD ( for obvious reasons)
then your nickel is worth 5 cents.

Well.thanks everyone for the really quick responses! It does seem like I have found the right place. It's like I said, clueless about this stuff. And thank you for the detailed explanation of what PMD is actually. Very well stated in which it makes it easy to understand for me.
Well, seems like I got that answered quickly. But I believe I will still stick around and see what all I can educate myself on coins. My mother gave me some old coins she had collected before she passed away. I think I will start with them to learn. Have a great day!
