CO,

Really nice find! Yes, the 1955-P DDO #2 is fairly rare in Mint State and probably hundreds of times more rare than the DDO #1 in most grades! I have owned and sold quite a few DDO #2's, one of which was a MS-63RD and two others that were MS-64RD's. I found the three Mint State coins in a roll of BU Red 1955-P Cents that I purchased from a Coin Dealer for $15. Although the Die #2 is much, much more rare than the Die #1, the values for this Variety has never been respresentative of it's rarity! I do feel that this sleeper variety will eventually take off some day and come into it's own as far as value!

co,

What was even more amazing than finding three Mint State DDO #2's in a roll, was the price an Error Coin Dealer paid for one! Since I had already sold a MS-64RD specimen on ebay for way to little ($175 I think), I only had two left and he chose the better of the two and paid me $275 for it. The next time I saw him, he was very ecstatic as the coin came back from PCGS as a MS-64RD and he asked if I still had the other one. He was really bummed out when I told him that I had sold it. I don't know where a MS-64RD specimen sits on the POP list but I would imagine that there are not that many specimens of this Variety that rank higher!
