Good evening all. With Halloween approaching, I thought I would share this haunting coin. Poor George had a small mishap. There are micro printed letters in the gash which sparked my curiosity as to weather it was PMD or not. I still don't know for sure but I thought it would be an interesting conversation piece. Happy hunting. ErrorsRCool.

It could not have happened during minting of the coin, so it's PMD.

Do you have a close-up picture of these micro printed letters?
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

The TPG has it correct. It's just a gash from PMD. Not an error coin. The "letters" you're seeing is probably just Pareidolia.

So somebody spent the money to have a common quarter with damage worth 25 cents certified.
You are correct, it is PMD.

Yes, post-strike damage. As always, beware Pareidolia.

I believe Hondo Boguss asked if I had pictures of the micro printed letters in the gash. He are 3 pics. They aren't the best pics, but I tried.

Yeah I know. I basically preserved it for my grandson. He likes Halloween goolish stuff, so what the heck. 🎃
He'll have something to talk about long after I'm gone.

I can't see any letters in the gash. I see the eagle got it in the neck, too? Ouchies!

In the future, please do not post photos of scope screens. Use the memory card or a USB cable to transfer images.
