Hello,
I hope you're all doing well. I recently picked up a 1943-S steel penny that looks like it might have a minting error. I'm not an expert, so I wanted to ask for some guidance. Would you suggest having it looked at by a professional to confirm if there's really an error? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Need a much better picture of the mint mark. Please remove it from the 2X2 for pictures, please.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

First, a RPM is not an error, it is a variety, big difference.
Also there are 8 listed RPM's for a 1943S cent and yours is not one of them.
What you see is probably a bit of Machine Doubling.
If you bought this, I hope you didn't pay too much as it is worth about 25 cents tops.

Well either MD or hits to the mintmark moving it and leaving traces of the original position. The 4 also shows some MD
