How about this seated liberty? The PCGS give it EF40 which's low grade by my opinion.
When I check it on Klause 's book,the guide price is too high and unreasonable.Did the book make a mistake again?thank you.

I'd grade it at AU. EF seems kinda low.

AU50-55 range. looks like it was improperly stored for a while a 100% acetone soak might help her. the rim hit above the A in AMERICA would possibly detail the coin as its a pretty good hit

Grade and price are two considerations.
Another is eye appeal.
This has none.

I don't think it looks that bad but if you don't like dark toning you won't be a fan. Detail does seem AU but the coin was likely net-graded due to the rim hit and somewhat negative eye appeal.

The 1861-S half is a fairly scarce coin and is priced higher than many other dates. PCGS XF-40 examples have sold in recent auctions in the $300 - $500 range.

Well,it's not a rim damage,just shadow of part of container.
