I think I read somewhere there (supposedly) is no such thing as a 1980 near date (wide rim) SBA dollar coins. I was just curious because in going through $1,000 of dollar coins, I found about five 1980 coins that the date is very near the edge. I found some further away also.
So I was just curious what the experts here think.
In that same $1K I only found one 1979 near date...
THANKS

I'm far from an expert on SBA's, but I believe the design change took place late in 1979, and affected all subsequent issues, so 1980 and 1981 would all be technically near dates. If I'm mistaken please let us know.

That is correct, there are no 1980 SBA dollar wide rim varieties, as the 'wide rim' is the normal design.
That would be the 1979-P dollar only, where there are the 2 varieties of 'near and far' date coins.

OK Thanks for that.
I'll recycle them back to the bank.
