Is there such a variant or error as this 1985S with a large blob (dot?) just above 85? Photos taken through the plastic of the holder. An otherwise prestine coin, what effect does this have on value? Could be one of a kind.

Yes, a rather large platin blister. I don't think that the zinc cent coins even have a 'dot' variety .
