I have a 1864 Silver Canadian Dollar coin that I was recently given. I have no information about what the value of it is or if it's a common occurance. Any help would be great.

Is the date correct on your post? To my knowledge Canda did not produce an 1864 silver dollar! Can you post a photo of the coin?

eflowers welcome.crystalk64 is right. The first canadian dollar was issued in 1935.
If the date you have is a 1964 in fact, then that dollar is 80% silver 20% copper. It is a Commemorative Dollar, and it has on it the words Charlottetown and Quebec. It was struck to commemorate the Confederation Meetings ( 100 th. anniversary of the meetings in Charlottetown,Prince Edward Island and Quebec). The circle in the center has the French fleur-de-lis,Irish shamrock,Scotish thistle and English rose. That's how it looks ?

Need-Some-Information

The value is nothing much.Looks like it's not very popular.I've got one in mint state ( still sealed in original plastic) and bought it for $ 7 canadian. Some coin books assign a higher value to it,but I don't know how true they are.

My dealer just purchased rolls of 64, 65, and 66 Canadian dollars yesterday. One roll was an unc. roll so I am anxious to see them next week. I believe the uncs were from 1965 but don't know the asking price yet.
