Or if vending machines here still accept them? Because a lot of vending machines still accept $1's here in America.

I am starting to find most machines down here no longer take cash at all. E-pay only. Fine by me.

As of Jan.1, 2021, $1.00 and $2.00 bills are no longer legal tender
but the Bank of Canada will still honour them at face value.
So the answer to your question is no.

@JimmyD - I didn't know that. I wonder why?

I know Canadian pennies are still legal tender, though, which is good,

Although Canadian cents are still legal tender, most businesses will not accept them as everything is rounded off to the nearest nickel or dime.
Also banks are not supposed to hand them out and are required to return them to the mint for recycling.

Vending machines in Canada are all going to be calibrated to accept the current series polymer notes, and reject all paper ones - if you have obsolete paper notes (including $1 and $2 notes), you'll need to exchange them at a bank, or find a kindly shopkeeper who will take pity on a tourist and accept them for you.

They are no longer valid in commerce , so no .
When I buy collections , we no longer want the
Ones , twos , or 1000 dollars . Way too much
Agro depositing them and some banks charge
to deposit .
Do not miss 1 or 2 notes , the coins are a far better
solution .
