I just received this coin and in the process of authenticating it have come across a potential problem. Weight is 19.85 grams which is only .15 grams light of spec. Passes 3/3 markers for a Peace dollar on a Ping Test. But it measures 35.6mm wide, BraveAI says it is not possible for an authentic 1907-S Silver 1 Peso to be over 35mm in diameter. The ring sounds right for Silver, and it looks to clearly be a die-struck coin. These were 80/20 Silver/Copper whereas Peace dollars were 90/10, same ring. What gives?

Added: When comparing this one to 3 graded MS examples on ebay, the hair and shoulder drapery on mine is missing detail, but that detail is also missing on the NGC graded one.

Bdlc, I pulled out one of my Philippines 1 Peso 1907-S and measured it. Weight is 19.81 g and diameter is 35.8 mm. It would seem that either both of our coins are fake or there is incorrect information somewhere.

Thanks for pulling yours out Hondo. Yes, your coin has more luster but it appears to be the same in the hair and shoulder drapery. But... yours appears to have a belt of some kind with some sort of strap thing going from mid-waste down to center lower stomach that I do not see on any of the three certified examples.

That's a scratch. And the "luster" is just shine from an old cleaning. I bought it for the silver, not collector value.

Well, I took it over to a bullion dealer who put it on their machine and said it's silver. So, I guess the fact that yours is also a little wider than what search is showing for the coin gives me comfort. However, here is a side-by-side of the coin I received on the left, and the listing photo of the obverse on the right. Not the same coin.

Yes, much of it is just damage. Showing difference in coin received compared to coin pictured in the listing. That's always a cause for concern.

What does the edge look like? SF Mint milling, or... ?
