I'd picked this up for spot gold price
.36g
6.6-6.8 diameter ovoid
1.1 mm thick
Hammered
Gold

I've used google and Numista. One side seems typical. But no match for the other. I'd just like to date it. But if you see a problem, let me know.

Here's one that matches your coin.

https://www.ma-shops.com/podlaski/i...508&curr=USD

It's attributed to Tipu Sultan of Mysore, Patan mint, 1782-1799 (undated)

That sounds like a good buy at spot gold price, and yours is in high grade.

Purchased for spot is OK in this case.
Safe enough, if you don't know too much about them.

Beware, modern copies in good gold are quite often incorporated in Indian jewelry. They are quite popular, and sell well, with not too much outlay by the purchaser.

Spot for these coins must be low. The alloy used for the gold fanoes of India was was traditionally very weak.
