This coin has stumped everyone I've shown it to insofar as the exact position and aberration that this coin received a 'detail' designation. I want to know what and where it has been altered so be so unacceptable to receive a 'detail' grade, https://www.pcgs.com/cert/83634401

The other issue I have is that CoinFacts only shows an RPD for B-7 and no RPD for B-5. The pricing for a B-7 RPD in a 25 grade retail is $2,750 whereas a 25 grade for a B5 without an RPD is $250. How do I interpret this, get an accurate price and is the slab incorrectly marked since it reads exactly, "B-5 Lg Let RPD FS-301"? Check out https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin...etters/38984

looks like scratches on the area on the field as indicated by Pacificoin.
But PCGS labels it as 'damaged' not repaired.

The scratches on the obverse might be why it got the details grade.
Errers and Varietys.

I'd assume that the writing on the slab itself would take precedence over any other writings elsewhere. This is a shot of the slab I have in my hand:

From the bottom of the Certification Verification page: Quote: Data entry errors occasionally may occur causing the information on the coin holder to differ from the PCGS database.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

To me (as PC stated) area of repair looks quite large. Looks like a reverse 7, top lip running towards the star then down 2 stars returning back to bust then up 1 star returning back to lower chin. That's how I see it from your posted photo of the slab.

I see a large area of scratches between her lower profile and the stars. To me, it looks like someone tried to cover up graffiti or damage.

PCGS called this Code 98 - Damaged, not repaired.
I agree the damaged area is fairly easy to spot. IMO PCGS got this part correct.

Quote: . PCGS called this Code 98 - Damaged, not repaired. NS, so are you implying that the slab is improperly labeled and does a "damaged" designation bring down the price more than a "repaired" designation?

IMO, this is where "buy the coin, not the slab" prevails. No one in their right mind will look at this and think, oh it has been repaired, or someone attempted to repair it. They will only think why the heck did someone scratch the snot out of this poor coin. Any interested buyers will see it for what it is and price it accordingly.
