Take a look for this scrape in the 4 legged version of the 1937-D Buffalo nickel.

That die gouge on both examples just not as strong on the 3-legger - maybe it was partially polished away along with the leg.

That was the first thing I checked because the mm placement looked a little off, but I think the later die stage was just polished a bit that makes it look to be that way.
