I emailed this to a few well known names in the hobby but no answer I also spoke with auction house but they showed no interest or had any words of wisdom. I don't want to break any forum rules.
I first came on about a year ago asking about a 3-leg
Buffalo nickel I missed buying. Around that time, my mother's health went downhill quickly and she passed away. Her mom was the one who taught me about coin collecting, and my mom passed that down to me. I just wasn't ready to pick it back up again until now.
The beautiful thing about this hobby is you can do it at your own pace—and there's a good chance that if you step away for a year and come back, your collection's value has gone up. I had these coins before my mom's health declined, and I'm not really a quarter collector, but here goes.
I have what I believe is a very rare 10-coin die progression on the Delaware quarter. There's a die chip on the letter "A," one on each side, and on the obverse ponytail there's another progression die chip, along with doubling and other errors. The coins are in about AU condition. I've been trying to get the number order of the progression right and look for markers, but I haven't had much success. I could really use some extra eyes.
Two of the coins may not be part of the main progression, but I can't say for certain. If they're not, they might form a separate 2-coin progression. These are coins 9 and 10. Each coin has its own folder and is public on a Google account. It's not under my real name—just "Dave saint," my alias/nickname.
There isn't much information out there about die progression sets and their value, so I have a couple of questions:
1. If you can help verify the progression (or part of it), should it be certified?
2. What might something like this be worth?
3. Would you recommend
ebay or a branded/private auction house?
There are over 100 photos, so there's no way I'm posting them all here. But if you need a clearer photo of any specific coin or area, let me know.
Sorry it took me so long to wander back into the hobby—but I'm here now.
I won't add the link until someone approves me to do so
