surface issues are probably green slime that has dried once in was out of the vinyl. Can probably be removed..interested in a grade if those were there.

I would put it in acetone first. Surfaces look off.

Sharpness looks in the AU range and surfaces look mushy and grainy however, look at the 8 very closely and compare to this one on the PCGS site. I think your coin may be an altered date. Notice the small opening of the upper 8 and the large opening of the lower 8. Perhaps an altered 1923 or an outright counterfeit.

fake, don't know why I didn't weigh it when it first came in. online auction not the best pics. Auctioneer did not know coins, mostly an estate auction with a few coins. Didn't even list it as a Peace dollar, just 1928 liberty. Which is why I figured it was going cheap. In person auction my magnet would have figured it out.

Out $200 and lesson learned.

Oh well, I've had more auctioneer mistake wins than losses. 4 '21 Morgans that were '21 peace. One "medal" that had a denomination on it. So figured it was a coin. Lot's of research, figured it was East German commem to Matin Luther. Which didn't all get released since communist decided maybe they shouldn't promote a religious figure. Very rare bought fro $10. Sold for $400.

Needs to be tested to see if it is silver.
