Besides the obvious, what grade do you think it received?

Lovely coin and a sure fire candidate for a professional repair with the hole in that location.

As is, its grade should be "VF DETAILS - Holed" to these old man's eyes of mine.

If it were properly filled, smoothed and re-engraved it could go "VF DETAILS - Repaired Hole".

It is what it is and always will be. Nice pick up!

What would you estimate the value at, $5K ? I wouldn't be ashamed to have this in my collection. Congrats!

Wow - a trophy coin with a major flaw. Still, very nice eye appeal.

I'm a little higher. the obvious grade is VF DETAILS - Holed
i'd say the obv is VF25 and the reverse is a high VF.
from what I've seen with these early dollars is that they are pretty tough on grading them. the devices on both sides are better than a 20 a lot of times it comes down to how efficient they are at separating strike from wear.

VF Details - Holed is the correct answer. I bought this one raw at a small show, along with 2 other holed 1799 and 1800 dollars. I didn't get those graded.

Yes, somewhere in that range, especially considering the eye appeal.

Yowza! Hole or not, that's a prize find. Very nice coin.

EDIT: I said all that and forgot to mention the grade. Absolutely solid VF Details (holed). IMHO the underlying technical grade would be on the VF-20/VF 25 bubble. Great coin.

Very nice! I'd happily trade your hole for my bust damage compliments of having a clasp soldered on liberties face at some point.
