Pennies are graded by color as well right?
so what if you have a graded penny .. ie ...red ...and it turns brown...is it still worth as much?

As a general rule a Red cent would be worth more then a Brown one, so if a Red cent "turns" Brown then I would think the value would go down to a Brown cent value. IMHO.

was your red penny in a plastic slab?

Can a penny go brown while inside a plastic grading slab?

I'm no pro but since the slab is not air tight there is a possibility that it could turn brown, I would think.

I believe (and I'm always open to being mistaken!) that some TPG's have guarantees covering this problem ... I'm thinking PCGS has one, but I'll let the experts say for certain when they arrive
