I have a coin and need your advice if it worth something. Becentennial quarter mint mark "S" it weights 5.79gm I think it's 40% silver

It's definitely an impaired proof - I can't say about the 40% silver content.

I expect our experts on this series will be along shortly to clarify the record.

An S proof would be 40% silver.
With over 7 million struck. it would have to be in uncirculated
condition to have much value over bullion.

5.75 grams would be the correct weight for a 40% silver quarter. Yours is within that tolerance. Current melt value is $5.85

Yeah, it looks more like an impaired proof than a business strike San Francisco quarter. The mass points towards 40% silver. Can we please see an image of the edge?
