Hello experts!

1798-?-Draped-Bust-Large-Cent

I recently acquired this cent in rough shape from ebay. It was listed as 1796 Reverse of 1797, but upon receiving it I have determined that it cannot be that type; the stems on the reverse are angled much too horizontally.

The reverse looks to me like it must be either 1797 stems, 1798, or 1799. The date on the obverse seems to rule out 1797.

It's hard for me to tell whether the date is 1798 or 1799, but leaning toward 1798.

Questions:
- What is the date?
- What is the grade?
- Will it straight grade despite scratch? (it looks worse in photos, per usual)

Could be either 1798 or 1799, 1799 is very rare so probably 1798.

i'd have to call it a 98 as well. the coin would not grade straight and most likely they may not be able to assign a date.

P01 details
