Not so long Ago.. It is a very big Ottoman Libyan Silver coin and I have no information on it nothing at all, Not even in all the books that I have, If possible for anyone out there to give it a try and assist with Information on it, It is 43 mm in diameter and weighs 24.2 grams, Year 1203 mint year 18. As you can see it has Scratches from the Old man that found it, I think he used something like a steel brush to clean it yes yes I know how dumb, but any way Its mine now lolololol, I gave him $ 150 bucks for it..... I have a very big big GOOD feeling about this coin and its rarity. Sap any help buddy.... Edited by Silver Gorilla 07/12/2009 4:21 pm

You can down load Google's Picasa software for free to re-size your images. The linux link is here http://picasa.google.com/linux/Once loaded you'll have to use the "export to folder" function within "File". From there you can reduce the size of pixels.

Hmm. At 43mm, it's the right size for a 50 para (KM# 66), and the design matches the pic for this type in the 1800's Krause (1203 Year 18 would be 1807 AD) but at 26 to 27 grams, it's too heavy (Krause lists it at 23.8 to 24.4 grams). It also doesn't list a "Year 18" - Year 16 is valued at $400 in VF, while Year 17 isn't given a value at all - which normally means they're known to exist but they haven't seen any recorded sales to base a value upon.
I don't know what it's absence from Krause, nor it's incorrect weight, really mean.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Thanks Sap I Just sent an email to a professor that I know in Istanbul Turkey, But I don't know if he is into Coins or not I will just have to wait for his reply soon hopefully. There is something killing me about this coin, A friend says its an 80 para from Sultan Selim the III, and Krause has the 50 para only, And not this one the 80 para, I think this will stir a re-listing in Krause catalog and should be placed in the New Edition if any thats coming out at all. Any way I will wait for the professors reply....... before I start jumping to conclusions..

The professor replies, but with out saying if it is Rare or not and other info if he had any at all.
This coin is listed in Krause as 50 Para (km66) but infact it is 80 para.
But there is a problem, this date (1203/18) is not listed in Krause or in any other book we have. So this will be added in our book. If you have the permission we will use this as the picture of 80 Para.
The name of our new book will be something like that : Ottoman Empire Coins Book 1099-1223. I will let you know when it is ready.
