I wasn't sure how to vote. since I first stated collecting in 1999 when the State Quarters came out but only collected for a year or 2.Then my dad got sick with cancer and passed away. He was only 50 so to young to pass away We collected coins together and once he passed away I stop it reminded me to much of him. But less then a year ago I restarted and I have learned about coin I never know that the US made since I was only a State Quarter and Stuff the US mint sold. So I am voting for 1-12 months since that is how long I have been serius and addicted to coins and the history of coins

I also picked 1-12 months because I guess it was about 9 months ago when I bought my first Morgan dollar and the fire has been burning ever since. I have just about completed a date set and close to completing the date/mint set and I have the #1 set in the collectors society B1 reverse Morgan set. Since joining this forum my knowledge has grown 10 fold and I found errors within my collection I never knew about and know what to look for better when buying other coins to take the spots that need filling/upgraded within my collection

I actually started in second grade in school which would be 1954 - that would put me over 50 years. But I only had a half dozen coins until I began to collect in earnest when I was 10 years old in 1957. That si when I got my first part time job and had some money to spend. By then I had expanded to several hundred coins. So I date my buying to 1957 but my earliest interest in coins to 1954.

I picked 18-24 years, because I started as a kid but I'm not sure exactly how old I was when I started!

I was fairly serious as a kid in the 60's, to the extent that I dug old sites and searched every coin I got my hands on for errors and the like, but then I drifted away from it for 30 years or so. The last couple years, I've gotten serious again.

I really got after it when I was starting into high school -- in 1956.

However, prior to that I had built up a small collection of foreign coins.

My first coin books are from when I was a little boy. My father helped me with them. However, I have only been a serious collector for about the past eight years.
