Before I buy (if I buy). I can't find this in my KM or on the internet, although there are similar ones in Krause. Although presented to me in a plastic case it has already been 'manhandled' so that would be a bargaining point when/if it comes to price. The coin is 38mm in diameter but I've no idea about the weight (the machine outside my local supermarket doesn't do grammes!). Anyone any idea about value if it was in mint?

Kanton Glarus is a swiss state. This looks like a silver round from that area. Probably from a set depicting all 26 swiss Cantons.

Agreed, not a coin but a medal. And probably pre-1999: Today Switzerland has 26 cantons indeed, but until then there were 23 ... and that is also the number of stars on that piece.

Thanks echizento and chrisild for your input. The comment on the stars was very interesting. I've just spent over an hour on the net searching and... you've guessed it... no luck. I don't know if this would be part of a set or just something local. I'm still in two minds wether to buy as it's not a 'coin'. Ah well back to the search engines.
