Help with this ( Eisenhower dollar), please. I don't know if it's plated. Thanks. I don't know if a 1971 dollar is normal. Weight 2.78

It looks like it has been plated.

2.78 grams? I guess you meant 22.78.

22.7 grams is nominal. Tolerance is 21.793 to 23.607.

Real 40% silver Ikes are 24.6 grams.

Yes plated - just look at the edge. Clad Ike's would show copper.

Is it worth sending it to PCGS to check if it's silver, even though it weighs less?

A 40% Ike dollar is worth about $28 because of the silver content - if you send your coin to PCGS your cost will be triple that. And you will be told it is a plated coin. Everybody already told you that for free.

A 40% silver Ike has a 21% silver, 79% copper core which is often visible to some degree. I do not see this here. I do see a typical plated coin.

90% silver, 40% silver, Cu-Ni Clad:
