VF details (cleaned)
my guess it was lightly cleaned with something like just soap and water then wiped with a cloth. this would give you the residual grunge in the crevices and the removed toning from the higher devices leaving the blotchy surfaces like you see on the profile

VF, possibly details from an old cleaning. Not sure if it would be market acceptable or not.
Errers and Varietys.

It's the more common medium "O" mm variety. The technical grade looks VF-25. I agree on the older cleaning and a possible details designation, though if it details, this one isn't bad.

What does 'market acceptable' mean? I take it that is a subjective term. Being a poor person, what is not acceptable to a well-heeled collector might be just fine to me, and I'm part of the market, right? Or does it have a technical definition?

Quote: What does 'market acceptable' mean? this is how I see the term Its typically used when you have a coin that has been lightly cleaned but not to the level of it being sufficient to pull a details tag. the 'market' (collectors) would accept it as being a coin that would not receive the designation. in many cases, the coin may have re-toned over time such that the cleaning really has no effect on the collectability of the coin. when looking that the coin here, although you can still see the signs of a light cleaning, you can see that the coin has begun to re-tone across all the surfaces

Thanks all for your feedback. I thought an old cleaning as well, but it was market acceptable to PCGS. It was graded VF35 by them. I cracked it out awhile ago for my Dansco. It will be a hole filler for now until I find a better example.

Since I was two steps below the PCGS grade, I went back and looked at the photos again. I lightened the photos to get a better look at the coin. I can see the PCGS VF-35 here.
This is nicer than a hole filler. It's a solid collectible coin. The strike is better than most New Orleans coins, and it doesn't have many contact marks.
