I have a 1994P quarter with some type of error on the obverse that I can't identify what type of error it is. The area in question is a bumpy area, which is the same height as Washington's image.

I'm new here, so I thank you for all input and responses. If it was heat damage, wouldn't the reverse be damaged also? Does heat make the metal expand that way?
The reverse is affected too. It's discolored from the heat. Heat damage will cause the metal layers to bubble and separate. Quarters minted from 1965 to present have clad. The clad layers will separate when heated. Hopefully this simple explanation will be enough.
